Design and Construction of 2019 Canada Winter Game Recreational Facility Enhancements in Red Deer, Alberta
Gen7 was the Prime Contractor for the enhancement construction of recreational facilities consistent with the high standards of the Canada Winter Games adjacent to the Red Deer River. Enhancements and associated work included:
- Construction of 14.5 km cross-country ski trail system enhancements
- Advised on the cross country ski trail design to minimize environmental impacts and maximize ski experience;
- Design and construction of a stadium area
- Design and enhancement of the biathlon range
- Discovery Canyon downhill ski hill enhancements (jumps and erosion control)
- Created and adhered to Environmental Construction Operations plan
- Conducted all pre-construction migratory bird nest searches to ensure compliance with the Migratory Bird Convention Act
- Ensured all construction adhered to provincial and municipal regulatory requirements
- Clean-up of windstorm damage; multiple downed trees on the trail system during construction
