Vegetation Communities & Monitoring
Vegetation communities are the basic components of different habitat types, prescribing the wildlife located in a site. A thorough understanding of the vegetation comprising a site leads prior to, during and post-development leads to an intimate understanding of ecosystems and habitat, providing the information required for knowledgeable planning and management of oil and gas facilities. Furthermore, characteristics about vegetation, such as vigour and species, can provide clues as to the path of contaminants or surface water quality. Depending on the reason for the assessment / monitoring and the needs of the Client, these can be qualitative or quantitative. Vegetation communities and vegetation monitoring are integral components of many of the environmental services offered by Gen7 Environmental Solutions, including
- Pre-disturbance assessments;
- Timber Assessments;
- Habitat Classification and Habitat Assessment;
- Reclamation Certification and Reclamation Planning;
- Water Quality Assessments and Water Quality Monitoring;
- Wetland Classification and Evaluation;
- Rare Plant Surveys to identify the presence and range of rare plant populations prior to a development, and potentially requiring mitigation strategies; and,
- Weed assessments, weed surveys, and weed management plans which identify the presence and density of weeds and/or invasive species prior to or after development, and assist in the development of cost-effective weed control strategies.
