Wildlife Sweeps
Wildlife Sweeps are a regulatory approval condition under the Enhanced Approval Process (EAP). These assessments are a pre-construction survey of the proposed development and surrounding area to identify important wildlife features including, but not limited to, species at risk, mineral licks, raptor nests, active den sites, hibernacula, and breeding ponds. Gen7 Environmental Solutions has experience completing wildlife sweeps to ensure oil and gas developers remain in compliance with Alberta provincial requirements and the EAP.
Wildlife sweeps completed by Gen7 Environmental Solutions includes:
- Aerial photo review and desktop assessment of relevant sensitive species and important wildlife feature databases to inform the field assessment;
- Field assessment of proposed development and required buffer; and,
- Report outlining results, including recommendations to avoid, minimize or mitigate any potential impacts identified, with professional sign-off.
